Geoff Reid

First Nations Engagement Lead

One Basin CRC

Geoff Reid is a Gomeroi man. He lives and works in Toowoomba, Queensland, however his country is just over the border in NSW along the Barwon River at Collarenebri.

Geoff grew up in South Australia and spent plenty of time at Goolwa and Lake Alexandrina which located at the bottom of the basin; He now lives near Killarney, the headwater of the Condamine River that flows into the top of the basin. So, he has spent time at both ends.

Over the last few years Geoff has been traveling over South West Queensland, meeting and partnering with the 28 Nations in the region which covers over 314,000kms.

Geoff’s previous role was with Southern Queensland Landscapes as a Growth Facilitator, Regional Agriculture Landcare Facilitator and First Nation Liaison Officer. These roles keep him very busy but were very rewarding.

Prior to working with Southern Queensland Landscapes, Geoff had a commercial banking career specialising in Indigenous businesses, schools, religious organisations and NFPs.

Geoff’s passions are caring for country, his people and social justice. In addition to his work at the One Basin CRC, Geoff is on the Toowoomba Regional Council’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Advisory Committee and he is a board member of the Gomeroi Grain Custodians Committee, an advisory role providing direction on the vision and strategy of protecting and revitalising Gomeroi grains.
